Enforcement operations carried out across Shropshire and West Midlands

Last Saturday night (27 November), SIA investigators conducted enforcement operations with West Mercia Police in Telford, Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton. These were targeted operations to identify and disrupt the activities of unlicensed security operatives, who place the public at risk by working illegally. They spoke with venue managers, examined documentation, and interviewed and checked the licences of security operatives on duty that night. Our investigators also inspected a business's premises and conducted enquiries at a residential address. The operation, supported by officers from the West Mercia Police also sought to gather intelligence on fraudulent activity such as bogus security companies, individuals operating without a licence, and signs of labour exploitation and modern-day slavery. Racist abuse of Birmingham pub doorman investigated

A video showing a woman using racist language towards a pub doorman is being investigated by police. The clip, viewed more than two million times on social media, shows the woman swearing at the member of staff outside a Wetherspoon in Birmingham before shoving him and walking away. More racist language is then directed at the bouncer and she is seen spitting in his direction. A woman has been arrested on suspicion of racial abuse, police said. The 24-year-old, from Worcester, was detained on Monday afternoon after she went to a police station at the force's request. West Midlands Police said she was also accused of racially abusing another man and damaging furniture inside the pub.
